Kathleen Moore, Jonathan Turner & Monica Munaretto - Institutional Activity Supporting Graduate Student Needs
Most of the student supports on our campuses are designed with the undergraduate student in mind and may not meet the needs of our diverse graduate student population for professional development, career training, wellness and mental health. The challenges faced by graduate students are not universal to all post-Âsecondary students.
In this CIHE Speaker Series Panel Discussion student services professionals and researchers will discuss the needs of this student population and will share how universities are improving services for graduate students. They will also share recent findings on the graduate student experience and provide insight into what more can be done.
About the speakers
Kathleen Moore
Kathleen Moore is a PhD candidate in Higher Education at the University of Toronto, a Research Associate at the National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) and an instructor at Brock University. Her research focuses on postsecondary student mental health and how institutions can support graduate student success.
Jonathan Turner
Jonathan Turner is a Career Educator at the University of Toronto Career Centre, where he works primarily with graduate students and Post-Doctoral fellows. He designs and leads workshops, conducts outreach to graduate units, and meets with students individually. Jonathan has a PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from the University of Toronto.
Monica Munaretto
Monica Munaretto is a Ph.D. student in Higher Education. She possesses extensive experience in student affairs at institutions in Ontario and BC. She holds a Master of Arts from UBC and a Master of Education from OISE/UofT. Her research focuses on the preparation of doctoral students for careers outside the professoriate.
